Yonsun-michi Path
Winding naturally along the mountainside, this path has been used by visitors since the days of old. The sun, a traditional unit of measurement, is equivalent to about 3 cm, and at its narrowest point, the “yonsun” (“4 sun“) path is only 14 cm wide. Many generations of people have walked along this path in the footsteps of Jikaku Daishi, founder of Yamadera, which is why the path is also known as oyako-michi (parent and child path) and shison-do (descendant path). Located on the Hyakujo Iwa cliff, which rises up on the upper left side of the path, are the Nokyodo building, Kaizando Hall, and the Godaido observation deck.
